Job description

The Canteen, a year round, high-energy, fast-casual, community-focused restaurant institution in Provincetown, Massachusetts, is looking for oyster shuckers for our upcoming  Summer season!

This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone looking to join a well-respected restaurant with strong systems that still has room for change, improvement, and growth. The position requires at least one year of experience as a line cook in a high volume kitchen. Responsibilities include preparing menu items to meet quality, portion and time standards; maintaining line cleanliness/sanitation; and giving great service to co-workers and guests alike.


Job description:

  • This is a full-time, hourly position.

  • AM and PM shifts available.

  • Flexible schedule required, weekends a must.


Our performance expectations are:

  • Makes menu items to meet quality, portion and time standards

  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work space

  • Practices good personal hygiene

  • Timely and accurately completes prep list including stocking, rotating and clean-up

  • Meets quality and time standards for stocking stations

  • Efficiently maintains station throughout an entire shift

  • Maintains line cleanliness and sanitation (includes cutting boards, floor, trash)

  • Assists co-workers with anything that is necessary or requested

  • Asks questions whenever necessary

  • Asks for help whenever necessary

We work directly with the fishermen and oyster farmers that provide our raw bar with fresh local seafood and as such expect the utmost respect and care to be given to our raw bar station. This includes both food handling proceedures as well as educating guests about our efforts.
